I ran onto a blog post today that really hit home for me, and wanted to share it with you. It has to do with our spiritual selfs, emotions, and our well being. 😉
If you come here often and If you’ve read many of my posts here on the blog, you will find that I’m a really emotional person that also suffers from depression and anxiety. I try to open my Bible and read a chapter or two every day. However, I miss a day here and there. I just get caught up in my everyday life and my work online. Does that sound like a worthy excuse? I don’t think so. 😉
Usually I try to read my Bible first thing in the mornings, after my workouts. Well, If I’ve got something that’s pressing me and stressing me out that needs to be done soon that particular day, I sometimes skip reading. 🙁 NOT a good thing. As the Word gets me going on a positive note for a positive start to my day. I definitely need to work on that! 🙂
Also, Lara talks about being cautious about what you think about. This is SO true, we all need to stop and think about (what we think about). Sounds a bit confusing, but what we think about sets our moods and outlook on life. Also, Lara goes on to explain that we all need to set our minds on God
(ref. Colossians 3:2, Romans 12:2)
Lara also talks about paying attention to what we listen to. This is so very important. Faith comes by hearing!
(ref. Romans 10:17, James 1:22)
And lastly, this is one of the things that hit home for me. Watch what you say Have you ever said something on impulse without thinking of other’s feelings and also the consequences? I seem to do this often. 🙁 That’s something else I need to work on. 😉
From Lara’s blog post : Think BEFORE you speak. REPLACE bad thoughts with what is good, worthy of praise and honorable. And this brings us to the scripture…
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
