Believing in Miracles — Some Scriptures For You

prayerchangesthings2

I opened up my Bible this morning. For some reason, Matthew 11 Verses 1 through 5 caught my attention! Obviously, the Lord wanted me to see these scriptures on miracles and healing.

I DO believe and have a few stories that supports true miracles. ๐Ÿ™‚

Matthew 11:1-5

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Psalms Chapter 4 and Prayer Quotes – Scriptures For The Week

natureflowers

It’s been awhile since I did a prayer or Bible scriptures post. However, I need guidance and prayer more than ever right now.

I’m considering doing something online that I’ve never done before and need to know if I’m moving in the right direction for my business. I’ve been praying about this as I prepare for this new project. I need strength and guidance!

I was reading the scriptures this morning and came upon Psalms chapter 4. I love reading in Psalms! ๐Ÿ™‚

I find the below chapter intensely uplifting and comforting!

The last one is my favorite…

1. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

What Makes a Family Strong

family

Things have been crazy around our house as of late. Nothing is going according to plan and some days I feel as if I could just go running and screaming down the road and not look back. That is if I did not absolutely love and adore all of the wonderful people in my family. We may not see things the same or think the same way but there is one undeniable fact holding us together, we love each other. I have heard we are not the only family that has issues. Is there a picture perfect family out there? I have yet to discover one.
In the past few months I have a son who has gotten himself into some trouble. Teenagers; you cannot live with them but you cannot live without them. I think that is what they say about husbands and wives but it works well in this case too. My son and I are on a different planet most days but everyone in a while we find ourselves sharing a moment where we actually connect. When this happens I find that I usually stop breathing because I feel like if I do the moment will end. In these moments I remember the little boy that used to think I knew everything and looked at me as if I were the core of his world. *Sigh*

I also have a daughter who has changed quite a bit over the last year which is quite hard for me to take. She is in her late twenties and is now in a serious relationship. It kind of makes me wish she had gotten into a relationship earlier, but not really. I have had her all these years, we have been buddies and pals, and we have shared jokes and have loved the same foods, movies, and games. Now that she has her beau she is much more interested in what he is thinking, feeling, and what his likes are. I know she still loves me but I am no longer the โ€œgo toโ€ for sharing information. I knew this day would come and even prayed for her to find the right fella but since it has come I find myself in a tug of war between being happy for her and resenting her new relationship. I know in my heart which way this rope pull will go. Such is life.

You never think about things like this when your children are born, at least I did not. Who thinks about their children getting into trouble or leaving you for a new love when you are holding them in your arms? But as all this has been taking place lately I have realized that God allows all this to happen to make us stronger and to help us to keep our focus on Him and not our children. God gives us family but they are blessings, they are not intended to take the place of our heavenly Father. When we put our family in the position of being what we live for instead of God it never works out. Even our family will let us down from time to time even if it is not intentional. This is something that I am thankful I am learning. God is always the same, He never changes, and He is never going to let His children down.

There is another huge event that has taken place just this past week in my life which has made me realize how much I depend on my family instead of seeing them as temporary blessings. My Mom has recently found out that she had a blocked carotid artery which had to be worked on immediately. We spent five days in the hospital together. I know there are some of you that have slept on those little pull out chair/couch contraptions they have in some of the hospital rooms. That is where I have spent most of the last week. I do not think I have one single place on my body that doesnโ€™t hurt.

Momโ€™s birthday is next week and she will be seventy-seven. They found out when they were doing this surgery that she also needs a triple bypass two weeks after she gets out of the hospital. My heart fell when I heard the news. My Mom is going to live until Jesus returns; at least that is what I have engrained in my mind. She is vibrant, alive, and constantly in motion. Just the week before she was at her sisterโ€™s house who is seventy cutting down a big tree with the chainsaw I bought her for Christmas. Yes a chainsaw and she asked for it. She is stronger and much heartier than I am and most people I know as well. She is seldom sick and has always been there for me, always. I just keep thinking over and over that I have to keep my eyes on Jesus and trust Him with my Momma. This is a reminder of how important it is to love your parents with all your heart and treat them well for as long as they are with you. Which in my case by Godโ€™s great grace is until Jesus comes!

When things like this happen your whole world starts to shake and you find yourself wondering what in the world is happening. I really do not know what people do who do not have faith in God at these times. I find myself going out of control emotionally and then He reminds me who is in charge of everything and how much He loves us all. He does everything for the good of those who love Him and when I remember this in those panicked moments and ask for His peace then everything becomes alright.

Another added bit of excitement is when the siblings come into town to see Mom and the cousins and the aunts, and the old friends. Throw all these people into the pot, some of them staying in your home and just as upset as you are, and you have a wonderful recipe for high anxiety. This is the time that you can let family make you stronger or take you down. They are the few rare people that actually have this power over you, like it or not. And it is all because of love. This is the reason why we hurt the people we love most. We know they will not stop loving us and we can get down to the last raw nerve in their body and (in most families) things return to the normal loving relationship within just a short period of time. This is especially true in the parent/children/sibling relationships, isnโ€™t that an amazing thing? It is a love thing and that is what makes the family strong.

I donโ€™t know who is reading this or what your belief system is. If you are a Bible believing, born again Christian you know from the Word of God that this is Satanโ€™s plan, to destroy the family. He knows that if he can get the family in chaos that everything else will fall. I am extremely thankful that I am not just running on my love but that I have the love of God in my life so that all these hurdles can be met and overcome. Life is hard sometimes but love is oh so much stronger.

As I am writing this I am also waiting for one of my brothers to come into town. It is a strange phenomenon that happens in families all over the world; kids can grow up in the same identical family and not be a thing alike. My brother and I could not be more opposite. We have learned over the years to bend with each otherโ€™s idiosyncrasies and love each other despite these differences. I, being the less confrontational, find myself backing down more often, not conceding mind you, just shutting it down for the sake of love, peace, and harmony.

Strong families have problems, strong families go through crises, and strong families disagree. But what keeps families strong is the knowledge that family is important and love is what binds them. They refuse to let go and they trust in that love to keep them together. They never give up and they never surrender.

From The Bible

Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

1 Thessalonians 3:10

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 15:9-11

Scriptures For The Week and Christian Forums to Share

christianmessageboards

I’m constantly searching for spiritual encouragement. While performing searches this morning, I came upon a few Christian message boards. I thought I’d share those with you today. ๐Ÿ™‚ With everything going on in my life currently, (or any time), it’s a good idea to surround myself with spiritual individuals and also the scriptures.

I have been thinking about Faith Healing recently. And yes, I believe in miracles! See my post Here. I’m quite candid about it! lol

I should remember all these wonderful things when faced with tests and hard times. I’ve been so super busy as of late, I honestly have not taken the time to read my Bible as I should. With my comings and goings, I could easily take my Bible with me, or…even my iPad. I have all kinds of prayer and religious eBooks on the iPad. I could also easily slip that into my purse when leaving.

However, my memory is so very short these days! ๐Ÿ™

Here you go with a few scriptures for encouragement…

James 5:13-16
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Matthew 9:27-31
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
Luke 8:50
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

Normally, Iโ€™m the first one to be in the Thanksgiving spirit, but as I pushed my cart through the grocery store I wished we could skip it this year. I passed the turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie without a glance. Mom wouldnโ€™t be with us, and neither would anyone else. What kind of Thanksgiving was that?

Praying Their Way Through Turbulent Times

A Georgia couple facing financial strife find strength and courage in turning their troubles over to God.

By Roxann Crane, Acworth, Georgia

Mail thunked into the mailbox and I ran to get it. Ads, bills and…my stomach knotted. There it was. An envelope from the mortgage company.

I went in to where my husband, Doug, was in the living room. We opened the letter together and started reading: Dear Mr. and Mrs. Crane, we regret to inform you that your request for another mortgage modification has been denied…. It went on with more financial mumbo jumbo, but that first sentence told us enough.

Doug let the letter fall to the floor. โ€œThatโ€™s it,โ€ he said. โ€œWeโ€™re done.โ€

I gazed around the living room. Pictures of our three sons. The framed wedding photo above the mantel. Our furniture. Our whole life.

Two weeks earlier weโ€™d received the foreclosure notice from the bank. We hadnโ€™t panicked then because we were still waiting to hear about the loan modification. If we could bring those loan payments down we might figure out some way to hang on to our house.

Now the last door was closed. We had two weeks to move out. We were two weeks away from living on the streets.
I looked at Doug. Heโ€™s a stoic man, not one to complain or let his feelings show. But I could tell that he was as shaken as I was. How had we come to this?

(For some, however I’m not a huge Halloween person)

Still I wanted to put a thought into my readers’ ears and eyes. I was watching the news last night…and that’s not something I normally do! LOL

Hello Tammy!! You Need To Watch The News Once In Awhile To See What’s Shaking!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

No Pun Intended ๐Ÿ˜‰ I was just in AWWW! Prayers are needed for all those people!!! ๐Ÿ™

7 Prayers For A Solid Marriage – 30 Happy Years

This past August we were married 30 years…Happy Anniversary to us!! ๐Ÿ™‚

30 years sure is a long time, and is a milestone. Have we had many disagreements? Have we hurt each other? Have there been angry moments? Have we ever went to bed mad at each other?

Sure we have! What marriage DON’T have disagreements?! None that I know of. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It takes a lot of work, trust and prayer to make a marriage work and last. We have that! Not many marriages last 30 years, or even 20 or less!

I was reading through the scriptures this morning and found 7 of them for a happy marriage. I’d like to share them with you =)

Father, I plead that we would speak the truth in love to each other, honestly and openly sharing our feelings with each other

Ephesians 4:15, 25

God, I plead that You would give us wisdom and compassion in dealing with our in-laws

Matthew 5:7

Father, I ask You to protect our marriage from the attacks of Satan. Deliver us from his evil, destructive plans

1 Peter 5:8

Father, help us to discern and deal with those things that hinder and hurt our relationship

Psalm 139:23-24

I pray that we would be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving one another even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven us

Ephesians 4:32

God, create within us a hunger for each other. Let us be satisfied with one another

Proverbs 5:19-20

Father, I plead that we would be patient with each other in all the circumstances of life

1 Corinthians 13:4

That last one is a big one!! LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lord, I thank You for giving me the man You chose for me! He is a good man, hard working, and trustworthy. I also thank You Lord for giving me our son and grandson! ๐Ÿ™‚

What an awesome, loving family I have…How did I get so lucky??! Only God knows. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are going on vacation to Floridaย in December to celebrate these 30 years!
