5 Important Tips For Grandmothers Aging Gracefully

There is no way to get out of aging. We begin aging the instant we are born. All of our muscles, bones, skin cells and brain cells begin to age the very day we are born. When most women get into their 30’s and 40’s, is when they start thinking of ways to turn back the clock. Of course technically, there is no way of turning our aging clock back. Although how we wish we could…especially Grandmothers!

However, there are things us Grandmothers can do to help our bodies and minds age more gracefully. And along with this, we start to feel amazingly younger, stronger and yes; more beautiful! 🙂

Below Are 5 Helpful Tips For Grandmothers Aging Gracefully

* Exercise – I can’t think of anything that exercise isn’t good for. However for Grandmothers; it’s especially good for muscles, brain activity and arthritis.

* Stay Hydrated – Drinking at least 5 to 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water per day aids a plethora of organs in our bodies, along with hair, skin, bones and nails. It also helps to maintain healthy bladders and digestive tracts. This is especially true for the elderly. And this of course means Grandmothers.

* Diet And Supplements – It would be best to get all of our vitamins and minerals through our diets, however there are some people that just don’t like a particular food group. So then we chose supplements to get the nutrients we need. If you take medication, it is best to check with your doctor before starting any vitamin supplements. That way you are more inclined to not have any surprises. If you have any doubts, it’s always best to check with a doctor. As we age, our bodies need more nutrients and minerals.

* Mind Activity – There are so many things that Grandmothers can do to keep their mind active. Of course the best activity is spending time with the grandchildren. Playing various light sports with them and joining in on other activities is beneficial for both Grandma and Grandchild.

However there are other things a grandma can do to keep her mind sharp and active. Word Find, jigsaw puzzles and board games are just a few to list. Walking outdoors is also beneficial. To get the full benefit of walking, you need to pay attention to all the sights and smells that surround you while on your walk. This also helps clear the mind and thus, further sharpens it. And you know what they say, an active and healthy mind is a young mind.

* Healthy Skin Care – As we age, the skin gets very thin and is more inclined to dry out, especially if we don’t use a good moisturizer after bathing or showering. There is nothing worse than spending a long time in a bathtub and afterwards not following up with moisturizing. Of course it’s even worse in the winter time.

Taking a shower is best for an aging grandmother, and you can’t ever be too moisturized. It’s best to invest in some good body and face lotion. Gold Bond is excellent for this. Gentle cleansers is recommended for the elderly, and cleansing is so very important in order to have healthy skin. Also generous doses of vitamin E is ideal to help keep skin healthy.

Also remember elderly skin is more prone to problem skin such as eczema and rosacea. And that’s just mentioning two symptoms of problem skin. There are many more.
