Bible Scriptures For The Week – Jealousy and Love :)

I remember so vividly my Grandfather (my mom’s father), going through the formalities of marrying my husband and I. What a wonderful and happy day that was! 🙂

I can recall him reading scriptures and also almost making those scriptures a whole sermon LOL

These were those scriptures…

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

More Popular Version (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Here is another scripture I opened up this morning about love

Proverbs 15:17

(KJV)

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

Translate to more comprehensive version (NLT)

A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate.

And from there, I went onto reading about jealousy. Is jealousy a sin??

The link below gives you many opinions on the topic.

My personal opinion…We are taught in the Bible to be content with what we have and to trust in God for all things. If we don’t trust in God, that is definitely a sin. All too often jealousy easily leads us to not trust, and also not to accept the perfect will of God in our lives. So yes, if jealousy leads to the above, it is sin. 😉

A few scriptures…

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

God Bless you this week! 🙂
